June 2021 marks the annual Avocado Month in California. For the 9th year in a row, California has kicked off a month-long marketing campaign to coincide with their peak avocado growing season. This year’s activities include social media posts, public relations outreach events, chef’s recipes, and even a drive-in movie.

This 4-week-long celebration aims to demonstrate the quality of California avocados to the consumer and draw attention to the peak availability that occurs in June. Here are some of the events taking place during California Avocado Month.

A drive-in movie will occur at the Orange County Mall featuring the movie “Angels In the Outfield.” Los Angeles-based chef, Edwin Charles Redway, also known as Chef E Dubble, will develop two completely new and unique avo-based recipes to share with event attendees. The goal is that they can easily recreate these recipes in their own homes. He has chosen Fried Avo Toast with Carmelized Bacon and Arugula and Smoked Jerked Chicken Skewers. Chef E Dubble will premier his new recipes on his Instagram page and host a giveaway before the drive-in event.
