Baking bread became quite popular over the last year. Studies show that baking can provide psychological benefits, including stress relief, so why not give it a go? Unfortunately, all the butter, fat, and oil that some bread recipes call for can leave your waistline a little tighter. If you want to bake your own bread, consider avocado bread instead! Avocado bread calls for using avocado in place of butter or other oils, creating a healthier recipe with fewer calories and more nutrients.

    How To Make Avocado Bread

This recipe takes a total of 2 hours and yields 8 servings.

    • 1 large avocado
    • Nonstick cooking spray
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • ¾ cup sugar
    • ½ cup half and half
    • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
    • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
    • ½ teaspoon baking soda
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

    • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
    • Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray.
    • Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda to a bowl. Whisk together and set aside.
    • Peel and pit the avocado and put the flesh in a small bowl. Mash the avocado and add lemon juice, then mix well. Next, add the sugar, egg, vanilla, and half and half. Whisk until thoroughly combined. Then, slowly add the flour mixture and stir until well incorporated.
    • Pour the completed batter into the loaf pan you prepared in step 2. Bake the bread in the oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until it is golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, remove the loaf, and place it on a wire rack to cool further.
