Kruna Patel moved to the United States at the age of 21 from India. He’d never heard of an avocado. Working as a produce manager in a local grocery store during Super Bowl Sunday, he was shocked at the line to purchase guacamole. Patel began to do some research on everyone’s favorite superfruit and came to the surprising conclusion that there’s so much you can do with avocados, giving birth to an avocado theory.
Especially after reading about all the nutritional benefits, Patel decided he wanted to create a business around avocados. Though finances were an obstacle, he didn’t let that challenge stop him from pursuing his newfound dream. Patel raised funds by selling custom-made guacamole at a local Farmers’ Market in Tinley Park with his family.
A Successful Avocado Theory
After that, Patel was hooked; he was intent on creating not just an avocado business, but an avo franchise. He built a clientele and made essential connections until October 22, when he opened the doors to his first restaurant, Avocado Theory, at the age of 34.
The restaurant’s mission is to explore all the ways we can enjoy avocados and live a happier and healthier life.
