Thanksgiving Turkey With Avocado Oil Recipe

    For the rub:

    • 1 cup avocado oil
    • 1 clove garlic
    • 3 tablespoons lemon zest
    • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
    • 2 tablespoons thyme
    • 2 tablespoons rosemary
    • Two tablespoons parsley
    • 2 tablespoons salt
    • 2 tablespoons sage

    For the bird:

    • 1 turkey
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 1 orange, cut into wedges
    • 2 carrots, chopped
    • 3 cups dry white wine
    • 1 cup chicken broth
    • ⅓ cup avocado oil

    • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • To make the rub, combine all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until the herbs are minced. The mixture should be smooth.
    • Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey and discard them. Use paper towels to remove moisture from inside the cavity.
    • Spread ¾ of the rub on the inside of the bird and the rest onto the skin.
    • Next, stuff the cavity with the chopped onion, carrot, and orange wedges.
    • Line a roasting pan with aluminum foil, with enough extra to cover the turkey. Place the turkey in the pan, breast side up. Make sure you tuck the wings under the bird and tie the legs together. Pour the chicken broth and wine on top and inside. Seal the foil over the top of the turkey.
    •   Roast the thanksgiving turkey with avocado oil in the oven. After 2 and a half hours, pour another ⅓ cup of avo oil over the top and roast for an additional hour.
    • Remove the roasted bird from the oven, transfer to a serving platter and allow to sit for about 10 minutes before carving. Discard the onion, oranges, and carrots from inside.

Enjoy your thanksgiving turkey with avocado oil, knowing that avocado oil is healthier than other oils!
